This was my 3rd cancer (or 4 if you count a melanoma) that I have most recently survived. Two were unrelated breast cancers…one lumpectomy and 10 years later a bi-lateral mastectomy. This time it was lung cancer, which I can happily say I am now 1-year cancer free.
My outlook has always been to take each day as it comes and be happy that at 81 I can still work every day at an occupation I love…surrounded by friends, family and wonderful colleagues. I do know how to “whine”…but it won’t help me and no one wants to hear it….so why waste my energy.
Losing my hair was another thing to take in my stride…as there was no alternative…but I do have a suggestion. I wish someone had told me to do. Before all your hair is gone, have your eyebrows and eyeliner tattooed on. Between no hair on my head and on my face I looked like a space alien ….so even on days when I was home alone I would pencil them on.
Take heart ….the best is yet to come !!!!
