I tend to look on the bright side of things always, so when I had a chest ex-ray and they told me they found a spot on my left lung, cancer never entered my mind. Even after I had the cat scan I kept thinking it just a benign cyst or something. But alas it was the big “C” lung cancer, and very aggressive at that. One month later I was in the hospital having the upper lobe of my left lung removed and it could have been all over right then, as my aorta burst during surgery, but I survived and today I got the news that my cancer is gone.

It was a tough battle, chemo and radiation are no fun, but I had a terrific support group, an amazing husband, loving family and wonderful friends, who were willing to do whatever they could to help me out during the rough times. I stayed strong and was determined to do whatever it took to fight this disease, The Doctor gave me a choice of two treatments and I chose the tougher one as it gave me a 2% better chance to win. It worked, It also cost me my hair, but I didn’t really mind, as soon as it starting coming out I went and had my head shaved.

After the end of my treatment and before I got the news I was cancer free, I became very depressed, I guess the idea that I was battling for my life and fighting through the nausea, and tiredness, and being poked 4 or 5 time because I had no veins left and losing all my hair finally caught up with me.

Turning Heads was just what I needed a wonderful fun filled day with people who really care. The whole day is dedicated to making you feel beautiful, and being bald a fun thing. Stacy, Debbie and Olga thank you.
